Chamber Director - Position Announcement
Are you interested in collaborating and promoting local and small business in Dolores, Colorado? Do you have experience in non-profit organizations or entertainment/economic development?
Dolores Chamber of Commerce is looking for a creative and energized individual to fill the role of Chamber Director of Dolores Colorado Chamber of Commerce. We are searching for someone who lives near Dolores and is seriously invested in this region. The role of director will have a direct impact on Dolores when it comes to supporting the mission of the Chamber and promoting small business.
The following is a description of responsibilities of the Dolores Chamber of Commerce Director position.
We seek a motivated, team oriented and passionate individual to lead the organization's strategic vision, manage day to day operations and serve as a primary advocate for local business members.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities 40%
Membership & Retention: Drives member recruitment and retention by serving as an advocate for promoting small business through advertising, social media and seasonal events.
Advocacy and Public Relations: Provide excellent customer service and act as the official spokesperson of the Chamber, advocating for business friendly policies and representing the organization in the public eye.
Operational Management: supervise staff, manages daily operations, and ensures the organization is run efficiently.
Community Outreach and Fundraising 20%
Event Planning and Logistics: Scheduling, venue selection, obtaining permits, and managing logistics for local gatherings.
Volunteer/Vendor/Talent Coordination: Serve as a volunteer coordinator for scheduled events and schedule and commit to vendors, food trucks, and music entertainment.
Marketing and Promotion: Promoting local culture and organizing events to increase foot traffic with prime motive to benefit local business.
Economic Development and Sponsorship Support 40%
Business Support: Assist local business with resources, promotion, advertisement and serve as a catalyst for growth.
Recruitment: Market the town to potential new business or customers through website information and social events.
Community Liaison: Act as a connector for the public sector, local government and the private sector.
Minimum Qualifications:

Leadership and communication skills

Event planning and budget management experience
Skills and Desired Attributes:

Technical proficiency skills including website software and administration, marketing and social media promotion.

A chamber or other nonprofit executive with hands on bookkeeping, budgeting and social media experience

Proficiency in website building, QuickBooks, Canva, WordPress and Microsoft Office/One Drive software

Willingness and ability to work evening and weekend hours, as meetings and events demand

Understanding of Municipal operations and being able to easily communicate and maintain a positive relationship with Town Board and Town Employees.
Other Expectations and Duties:

Attend monthly Dolores Chamber Board meetings and work with the President to help create the agenda.

Complete records on memberships

Man the visitor center
-
Monthly check in with all current members of the Chamber

Communicate with Chamber President regularly

Serve as the primary contact for all Chamber correspondence, including email and written communications.

Apply for grants and seek diverse revenue sources (Montezuma County Lodger’s Tax Grant Q1)
Structure and Compensation:

Part time, 20 hours/week

Annual salary: 31k

Paid once monthly

Holiday Break 3 weeks through New Years Day
